Join a friend with a party code

  1. Start in online mode with the hero you want to use. Check that each player has the game on a supported platform.
  2. Have the current party share its eight-character party code. The code contains letters and numbers and belongs to that party.
  3. Enter it in the join-by-party-code dialog. You can join through the lobby or an ongoing game.
  4. If the party is full, wait for a space. Local and remote players share the same four-player party limit.

Keep accounts consistent

Online hero progression can follow you across platforms when those platform accounts are linked to the same Microsoft account. Offline characters are separate. Read online and offline saves before switching modes. For friends sharing a screen, follow the couch co-op checklist.

If joining fails

Check the current party code, available spaces, online mode and account link first. Online console co-op also requires the platform-specific subscription. Compare your devices in platforms; repeated sign-in or disconnection problems belong in the troubleshooting checklist.
