Your first session

  1. Choose solo or co-op before investing in a hero. Online and offline characters are separate; keep the account and mode you intend to use.
  2. Follow the main quest through the interconnected regions. Explore optional caves and ruins when you can handle the enemies, and use discovered fast-travel hubs to return.
  3. Keep a ranged option even if you prefer melee. Check the equipment screen for helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots rather than expecting the single armor item from the first game.
  4. Collect enchantment books as you explore. These build a personal library for the Enchantsmith; the loot roll on a weapon is no longer your only route to its enchantments.

Separate the jobs in your loadout

Scroll the comparison sideways to see every column.

PartWhat to check
WeaponsA melee approach you enjoy, plus a ranged option for space.
Four armor piecesCheck each slot separately when replacing gear.
ArtifactsThree active abilities you can actually use in combat.
TalismansThree passive effects that fit the rest of your setup.

Choose a next step

Use the equipment catalogue to find names and slot types, then record a setup in the loadout planner. For permanent improvements, follow the enchantment workflow. If you are joining friends, use the crossplay guide before starting a separate offline hero.

Plan the rest of your session

The Sift & world structure: Understand the Sift, the connected Overworld regions, fast-travel hubs and changing caves before planning your route.

Couch & mixed co-op: Choose local, online or mixed co-op, and check the hero account and party capacity before gathering everyone on one device.

WASD & PC controls: The mouse-movement concern PC players are reporting, a controller alternative to try, and how to check controls without installing an unknown mod.

Achievement checklist: Keep a device-local checklist, with hidden entries concealed.
