Before joining the session

  1. Decide whether this is an online or offline session. Do this before building progress on a new character.
  2. Where the platform supports account sign-in for extra players, sign in with each player’s own account to bring their existing online hero.
  3. Check the available party places, including all local players, before inviting someone remotely.
  4. For a mixed party, give remote friends the current party code. Online console play requires the relevant platform subscription.

Bringing your own hero

Online hero data is stored online and can follow linked accounts. Guest and extra-player account options depend on the platform. Do not assume a guest character will become your main hero later: read save modes first. The crossplay guide covers the party-code route for remote friends.

Couch co-op is not a promise of split screen

The supported feature is local co-op. Do not buy a second copy expecting a particular split-screen layout without checking how it looks on your device. Use the platform table to choose the supported version; PC players can also read the controls guide.
